This study aims to demonstrate how to uncover parliamentary information that is not included in the written records. Although the minutes provide a basis for understanding what legislators discuss in parliament, they do not tell us the complete picture. First, we provide an overview of the video retrieval system we have developed for the Japanese Diet. Using a speech recognition system to automatically transcribe parliamentary speeches made in plenary and committee meetings, our video retrieval system creates timestamp data to correspond parliamentary video feeds with the minutes of proceedings and partially plays the parliamentary video clips corresponding to the minutes through keyword search.
