It differs from the traditional one using the radial measure in the definition of the distance function employed. We utilize a weighted li-norm for this purpose that enables us to account non-radial slacks in the index. Also, we employ an "exclusive" policy for evaluating a decision making unit with respect to a group of evaluators, so that sharp identification of the catch-up effect, as well as the frontier shift can be obtained.
